4 SUSPECTED ROBBERS GUNNED DOWN ON BEKWAI-FOMENA HIGHWAY

Four people suspected of being involved in armed robbery have been killed in a shootout with police. These individuals were believed to cause trouble on highways in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region.

They reportedly set up roadblocks between Bekwai and Fomena. There, they attacked travelers, causing fear in the community.

When the police received information about their actions, they acted quickly. Upon reaching the scene, the robbers engaged them in a gun battle.

During the exchange, the police killed four of the robbers. However, two others, though they were injured, managed to escape into the bush.

The Ghana Police Service is now actively searching for the two suspects who got away. They are also investigating to identify the deceased robbers.

In another case, the Police are looking for those responsible for shooting two police officers on April 13, 2025, near Poyamirea, outside Binduri in the Upper East Region.

ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, stated that early investigations revealed the officers, dressed in plain clothes, were traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri. They were attacked, and their motorbike was stolen.

The statement read:

“The names of the officers have been withheld pending the proper notification of their families, in accordance with custom and tradition.”

“The Police Administration wishes to express its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Commander, as well as all officers and personnel in the region. Our hearts and prayers are with you.”

The Police promised everyone that the people responsible for this awful crime would be found and made to face the consequences.
