I’M A BACHELOR SO I GO TO THE MARKET A LOT TO BUY AND GATHER EVIDENCE; PRICES ARE DROPPING, WE HAVE TRANSFORMED THE ECONOMY – Hohoe MP

Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, has said that he personally goes to the market to purchase groceries for himself because he is not married.

This has enabled him to also gather the evidence of the economic transformation being touted by the Mahama administration, he said.

On account of this, he says he can confidently state that prices of food items are dropping under the Mahama administration compared to what transpired under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Contributing to a debate on the 2026 budget statement in Parliament on Wednesday, November 19, he said, “Because I am a bachelor, I went to the market, and last year, Abena Rice was sold at 164 Cedis, just last year, Christmas, Frytol oil was sold at 60 Cedis. But just yesterday I bought the same rice at 99 Cedis and the oil for 39 Cedis. This is evidence of the economy that we have transformed from where they [NPP administration] left it, the junk status, to the status that we have transformed up to.”

Because he is single, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo claims that he personally goes to the market to buy groceries for himself.
This has allowed him to gather evidence of the economic transformation that the Mahama administration is touting, and as a result, he claims he can confidently state that food prices are decreasing under the Mahama administration compared to what happened under the Akufo-Addo administration.

“The prescription has worked, and today we see the benefits. Now, confidence is back; you need confidence to be able to run a good economy. Credibility is also important, your policy, the government.

“The storm has passed, the economy has regained its rhythm, we need to consolidate the gains and cement it to give us growth going forward,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, November 15.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson had outlined 8 Fiscal Policy Objectives for the financial year 2026.

According to him, this is to enable the government to deliver on its vision and macroeconomic objectives, and in line with Section 14 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

“Government’s fiscal policy objectives for 2026 will focus on bold, practical and disciplined actions that drive growth while protecting the vulnerable,” Ato Forson said on November 13 when he presented the 2026 budget statement and economic policy for 2026.
