Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has declared he will never enter into another marriage with a Nigerian woman, citing deep scars from his past divorce.
The 62-year-old action star, famous for his tough-guy roles in classic Nigerian films, made the startling admission during a recent podcast appearance, pulling back the curtain on his painful personal journey.
Anuku didn’t mince words describing his failed union with an Asaba-based woman over a decade ago. “It was a mistake from day one,” the actor stated flatly. “We were oil and water – completely incompatible in every way that matters.”
The actor clarified that while he helped raise his ex-wife’s daughter from a previous relationship, the marriage produced no biological children of their own.
What emerged most powerfully was Anuku’s description of the psychological toll. “The damage ran deep,” he confessed, his voice heavy with emotion. “I walked away from that marriage a broken man in ways people couldn’t see.”
This lingering pain has led to his uncompromising stance: “Never again. I won’t put myself through that with a Nigerian woman. That door is closed forever.”
While maintaining his single status, Anuku has built a family outside marriage, fathering two children with another partner. “My son and daughter live with their mother,” he shared. “We’ve created our own version of family.”
