Professor Kofi Agyekum, head of linguistics at the University of Ghana, has joined the ranks of those advocating for the ‘shoot to kill’ order as a means of combating the galamsey threat.
Several individuals have advocated that the government proclaim an emergency and give the military the authority to kill anybody found at the galamsey sites, where illicit mining is taking place.
In light of the fact that water contamination may have serious consequences for human health, they are certain that this strategy will dissuade illegal miners and safeguard the country’s water supplies, ecology, and life.
In an interview on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Professor Agyekum urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to take a stand and approve a “shoot to kill” order.
“. . Kwami, I now agree with you that we enforce that when we meet you there we must shoot you . . . where we have reached, we have to make up our mind that if you have decided to destroy the nation, the nation must also get rid of you,” he said.
