I’M FULANI AND I BELONG HERE – Hajia Samira Bawumia Rejects NDC’s Tribal Tactics

Hajia Samira Bawumia, Ghana’s Second Lady, has courageously stood up against what she calls tribal tactics used by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), affirming her deserved position in Ghana’s political arena as a Fulani woman.

In a fervent address to a crowd shortly before the highly awaited December election, Samira urged Ghanaians to oppose the NDC’s tactics of creating division and unite in support of her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Samira made her remarks during a time when political tensions are increasing, as accusations of tribalism are overshadowing campaigns that were hoped to focus on issues.

“If the NDC believes that resorting to tribal politics is the way to win the hearts of Ghanaians, then they have no business holding power,” she declared, her voice firm and resonant. “I am a Fulani woman, and I have every right to be here. Ghana is my home just as much as it is theirs.”

The Second Lady was disappointed that the attention was on her background instead of her accomplishments and the skills that make her able to assist her husband in achieving his goals for Ghana.

“Instead of questioning my ability to contribute meaningfully, they attack my character. Why not talk about my credibility or my work?” she questioned, drawing applause from the audience.
