Media personality Halifax Ansah-Addo has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Ghana Police Service’s handling of the accident involving actor LilWin, which resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy, Tawiah Ampomah.
He criticized the police for not taking immediate action or issuing a statement about the accident for a week after it occurred.
Halifax questioned why the police have not addressed the issue of LilWin’s car number plate marked “DP,” which indicates it was directly from the port, to assess its legality and take appropriate action.
“I am not too happy with the police service on this matter. It’s been one full week of speculations and counter-accusations. The police should have issued a statement clarifying the law regarding LilWin’s number plate, whether it’s DP or DV. How many days is one allowed to drive with such a number
“If it is DP, which means direct from port, what does the law say? I don’t work for MTTD, but I know it is usable for a couple of days. The police waited for one full week without any communication. This is not an ordinary accident; it involves a national superstar, and everybody is interested in the issue,” he said during UTV’s United Showbiz hosted by MzGee.
Meanwhile, LilWin was taken into police custody on Monday, June 3, 2024, following his discharge from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
He has subsequently been granted bail worth GH¢50,000 with the case adjourned to June 27, 2024.
