Ghanaian-American comedian Michael Blackson has publicly declared his allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the government’s fulfilment of its debt obligations.
In a tweet, Blackson expressed his excitement over the GHS6.081 billion cash payment to bondholders and the GHS3.46 billion Payment-In-Kind (PIK) deposit, made possible under President John Dramani Mahama’s directive.
“Look at God, this is a very great start for all bondholders. As of today, I’m officially a member of the NDC party. @JDMahama, you just put a smile on the faces of the kids at my free school,” he wrote.
The government has also set aside GHS9.7 billion as a buffer for upcoming debt payments in July and August 2025.
Blackson’s endorsement has sparked conversations online, with many applauding his stance.
