Award-winning arts writer and blogger, Ameyaw Debrah, has openly admitted that he is dissatisfied with the cedi’s appreciation against the dollar.
Over the previous week, the cedi has gained value relative to the dollar. At first, the cedi was valued at GHc14.80 to a dollar. However, the dollar has declined in value over the previous week, with the cedi being worth GHc9.82p to the dollar.
Ameyaw Debrah, a blogger, has said that he is hurt by the cedi’s current appreciation. His admission coincides with the sharp increase in the cedi’s value relative to the dollar.
He claimed that he had anticipated receiving a certain sum of money, which he had calculated in the prior sum before the dollar’s decline, but that due to the recent change, he would now receive a lower sum.
He tweeted, “I just saw an article that says $1 is now around 9ghc, and I must confess that even though I’m patriotic, I am pained. I’m expecting some payments in dollars, and I had calculated it to be at least 13ghc”.
