YOUR MUSIC HAVE UNITED PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS – President Akufo Addo Praises Pat Thomas

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lauded the contributions of renowned highlife musician Pat Thomas to the advancement of Ghanaian music on the global platform.

On Founders Day, Pat Thomas organized a musical concert at the Accra International Conference Centre to commemorate his more than 50 years in the Ghanaian music industry. The occasion also doubled as a fundraiser for his School of Music, Arts, and Culture project located in the Ashanti Region.

Addressing the audience during the concert, President Akufo-Addo praised the iconic Ghanaian musician, recognizing him as one of the nation’s foremost music exports, whose presence has graced some of the most prominent stages worldwide.

“I am delighted to join you on this Founders’ Day to honor the exceptional legacy of one of Ghana’s remarkable musicians, Pat Thomas. Music holds a significant place in our lives here in Ghana, both on a personal and national level. Personally, I cherish music, particularly highlife music. Whenever possible, I listen to and dance along to the tunes of artists like Pat Thomas, Amakye Dede, Daddy Lumba, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and CK Mann, among others,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

Highlighting the global impact of Ghanaian music, President Akufo-Addo noted that Pat Thomas’ music has transcended borders and elevated Ghana’s reputation. He highlighted the artist’s performances in various countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Finland, Australia, Macedonia, and Cape Verde.

“We assemble here today not only to celebrate his remarkable musical journey but also to acknowledge the cultural richness embedded in his music. Pat Thomas’ talent, dedication, and enthusiasm for music have united people from diverse backgrounds, and I am proud to consider Pat Thomas a fellow Ghanaian,” President Akufo-Addo affirmed.

The evening of pure highlife music featured an unforgettable performance by the 76-year-old Pat Thomas, supported by an array of accomplished highlife musicians such as Nat Brew, Kwabena Kwabena, KK Fosu, Okyeame Kwame, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Nana Agyemang, Bessa Simons, and Kofi Nti.
