Ghanaian investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has rendered an unqualified apology for president Akufo Addo over a derogatory statement he made about him.
Manasseh Azure, who has been a stern critic of Nana Akufo Addo’s government asserted that sometime the president of the country makes certain remarks that does not match up to his age.
He came under fire by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and considering that his comments were harsh and subtly disrespectful following a thorough reflection, he has extended an apology to President Akufo and pulled down the post that contains the statement.
He posted;
“Yesterday, | wrote a post that said some of the president’s pronouncements are not befitting of a man of his age. Some respectable friends who reached out to me said they have found the wording of the most distasteful and appealed to me to do something about it.
Accordingly, I have pulled down the post and apologize to the president and whoever is offended by the post. I, however, stand by the substance of the post, that some of the utterances of the president are not befitting of him.
For instance, there’s nothing funny about Kwaku Agyeman-Manu’s actions to warrant a public joke about it. This week, it was Domelevo’s comment.”
