President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has stressed that reducing the scale of Independence Day celebrations has saved Ghana a significant amount of money.
This year’s festivities cost the nation Ghc 1.5 million compared to Ghc 20 million, which would have been the expense if the event had occurred at the Independence Square.
He believes that reducing the scale of the celebration does not diminish its essential qualities.
Suggesting that he was reappointed to promote humility and caution in managing the nation’s resources.
The President revealed that last year, the nation had to allocate Ghc 15 million compared to Ghc 13 million the year before.
