“IT’S A BUSINESS GONE WRONG”- Shatta Wale Defends Kofi Boat Amid $100M Fraud Allegations
Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has publicly defended his longtime associate, Kofi Boat, amid growing reports of an ongoing fraud investigation implicating Boat in an alleged $100 million scam.
In a TikTok livestream, the “On God” hitmaker firmly dismissed claims circulating online that Kofi Boat is a scammer, insisting that the situation is being misrepresented. According to Shatta Wale, Kofi Boat is not involved in fraudulent activities but is simply entangled in a business deal that went south.
“Most of you don’t know who Kofi Boat is. You’re calling him a scammer? It was just a business that went wrong,” Shatta Wale said in a passionate, emotionally charged monologue. “He’s not someone who sits behind a computer to scam people.”
The award-winning artist further emphasized that Kofi Boat has always been involved in “legitimate business” and expressed deep concern about the public and media narrative, suggesting that it is unfairly tarnishing Boat’s reputation. “People say he be scammer… I can’t sleep because of this. He is not who you think he is,” he added.
Despite Shatta Wale’s defence, the case appears to be far from over. The Minister for the Interior has reportedly issued a warrant for Kofi Boat’s arrest, identifying him as the alleged head of a criminal network engaged in international fraud, including romance scams.
According to official sources, Boat and his accomplices are accused of siphoning over $100 million from victims, primarily based in the United States. Reports also indicate that during interrogations, Kofi Boat has begun naming high-profile political elites as beneficiaries of his operations, adding a significant political twist to the case.
