Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, an entertainment journalist and pundit, has shared his astonishment at Abeiku Santana’s comments about the importance of a streaming platform in 2024.
While meeting with ex-President John Dramani Mahama, Abeiku Santana commended the launch of a pay-per-view platform for artists but questioned the decision to collaborate with the private sector on a streaming platform for musicians. He contended that Nigeria, despite its larger population, lacks a government-backed streaming service.
Abeiku also mentioned Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s previous projects, stating that many apps launched during his time in office have been unsuccessful, and cautioned creatives to be cautious when considering the streaming app proposal.
Speaking on the issue on UTV’s United showbiz, Arnold remarked, “Empress, I am surprised that Santana, with his pedigree, will question the relevance of a streaming platform in this time and age. How does anybody with that repute, with that understanding, question the relevance of a streaming platform?”
Arnold Asamoah Baidoo was surprised by Abeiku Santana’s perspective, particularly considering the important role that streaming platforms have in the creative sector currently.
Arnold also addressed Abeiku’s claims about misinformation, adding, “He also said it was a lie. Where are the lies that surround the streaming platform?”
