The Member of Parliament(MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has urged Organized Labour to continue with their strike slated on October 11, 2024.
In an interview on Okay FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Sam George revealed that the government had granted approximately 13 new mining licenses in forest reserves, despite warnings of a strike from Organized Labour.
“It’s very important that Organized Labor fights for our water bodies. On the day the president was having a meeting with the Organized Labour, he asked them to slow down and reconsider the strike, his government issued about 13 new licenses to miners to mine in the forest reserves.” He claimed.
Sam George also stated that the lack of urgency in addressing the issue of galamsey is due to the selfish motives of some leaders.
“The President doesn’t take us seriously on galamsey fight. Galamsey is Ghana’s drug trade and until we deal with it like drug cartels are dealt with, the greed of some Ghanaians will put us in trouble
