JUSTICE BLAY ACCUSES FORMER KOTOKO TEAMMATE KWAME OPOKU OF ‘SNATCHING’ HIS GIRLFRIEND
Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has accused ex-teammate Kwame Opoku of betraying his trust by allegedly taking over his romantic relationship with a woman he was dating while they both played for the club.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM, Blay, 30, revealed that personal issues off the pitch, including the alleged involvement of teammates with women he dated, contributed to his frustration and eventual departure from the club.
“I had a girlfriend who used to visit me at camp. Before I knew it, the same lady was involved with Mohammed Camara. We even went to the police station, but I was advised to settle the matter amicably,” Blay said. “After that, I introduced another lady to Kwame Opoku. He started talking to her, and before long, Kwame had snatched her from me.”
Blay added that the matter became serious enough to require mediation by then-coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, and was revisited again under coach Karim Zito.
The revelations add a dramatic twist to Blay’s recent exit from the club, which came after a difficult 2024/25 season marked by limited playing time and reported disciplinary issues. His comments also raise fresh concerns about team unity and discipline at one of Ghana’s most storied football clubs.
