JOINT POLICE-MILITARY TEAM RAIDS DADWEN TO APPREHEND ATTACKERS OF EPA OFFICIALS
The dawn raid is part of a broader nationwide operation targeting communities known for illegal mining, following a presidential directive to bring perpetrators of the November 6 assault to justice.

A joint team of security forces from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces has conducted a dawn raid in the town of Dadwen in the Ashanti Region, aiming to arrest suspects involved in the recent attack on an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) task force and journalists.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday, November 12, 2025, was intelligence-led and involved targeted swoops and screenings. It follows a pledge by President John Mahama to bring the perpetrators of the November 6 attack to book.
According to a joint statement from the security services, the operation is part of a wider, coordinated effort across several regions. The Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, confirmed that security operations are ongoing not only in Dadwen but also in Anwona (Ashanti Region), Ehi (Volta Region), and several towns in the Ahafo Region, including Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani.
The statement included a stern warning that any attempt to obstruct security personnel in their anti-illegal mining duties “will be met with the full force of the law.”
Residents in the affected areas have been assured of their safety and urged to remain calm. The security forces also used the opportunity to commend the media, civil society, and the public for their widespread condemnation of the attacks and for supporting the national fight against illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey.”
