Ola Michael, while many factors contributed to the downfall of the movie industry, the supposed use of juju by some actors is among the least significant.
He explained that one of the major issues was the oversaturation of the market, with producers releasing a large number of movies despite having a relatively small audience.
For example, at one point, the Kumawood industry saw producers releasing about 20 movies, many of which were in parts 1 and 2. This practice was not logical given the limited consumer base, leading to audience fatigue and contributing to the industry’s decline.
Ola Michael also noted that the industry’s failure to adapt to emerging trends escalated the problem.
He said while other countries were moving to DVD formats, the Kumawood industry remained stuck with CVDs, which did not provide the best quality due to the way data was compressed.
