JULIET IBRAHIM APPOINTED FIRST-EVER PRESIDENT OF WOMEN IN FILM AND TELEVISION IN GHANA

Award-winning actress and producer, Juliet Ibrahim, has been named the first President of Women in Film & Television Ghana (WIFT Ghana), signifying a significant achievement for women in the nation’s creative sector.The announcement indicates increasing advancement and empowerment for women in film, television, and digital media throughout the African continent.In a statement applauding her appointment, Juliet Ibrahim highlighted the greater importance of the position, describing it as a pivotal moment for women in the creative industry.

This milestone is not just a personal achievement, but a powerful moment for all women across Ghana’s and Africa’s film, TV, and digital media industries who continue to break barriers, amplify stories, and reshape narratives both in front of and behind the camera,

WIFT Ghana has joined the global Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) network and is connected with WIFT Africa, fostering deeper connections between African creatives and their international peers while prioritising the empowerment of women locally.As President, Juliet Ibrahim has committed to promoting mentorship, collaboration, and significant opportunities for women in the field, focusing on aiding youth, storytellers, and female innovators.

Juliet’s newest accomplishment comes after her recent educational and career progress. She recently obtained a degree in Marketing Communications from the University of California, Berkeley.

She also became a member of the advisory boards for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival (BINFF), enhancing her impact on global film venues.

Sharing the news on social media, she reiterated the importance of the new chapter in her career:

Let’s write history together

The Women in Film initiative dates back to 1973, when Tichi Wilkerson Kassel established the inaugural Los Angeles chapter to aid women in the entertainment field.

The umbrella organisation, Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI), was formed in 1997 to bring together the various regional chapters as a worldwide entity
