KEN OFORI-ATTA TO APPEAR IN U.S COURT TODAY OVER IMMIGRATION VIOLATION CASE

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is expected to appear before a U.S. court on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, over alleged immigration violations after the U.S.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said he overstayed his visitor visa and lost his legal status.

The case could lead to a determination on possible extradition to Ghana.

However, Ghana’s Attorney-General, Dr Dominic Ayine, has dismissed claims that the matter is a routine overstay, insisting the visa was formally revoked and noting that Mr Ofori-Atta failed to leave the U.S. by the November 29, 2025, deadline granted by authorities.
