KIDNAPPED GHANAIAN WOMEN FINALLY REUNITED WITH FAMILIES

Two Ghanaian women who were abducted and detained in Nigeria have been reunited with their families after a successful rescue mission organised by Ghana’s National Security.

The victims, 48-year-old Anastasia Baidoo and 38-year-old Evelyn Serwaa Konadu, returned home after their rescue on May 1, 2025, during a cross-border operation directed by National Security Coordinator, DCOP Osman Abdul-Razak.

The women were allegedly enticed to Nigeria via a romance fraud and subsequently kidnapped by a group that sought ransom from their relatives. Their suffering attracted public notice after videos of them in distress spread on social media.

Security sources verify that a collaborative team, consisting of the CID, Police Intelligence Directorate, National Signals Bureau, and the NIB, utilised cyber forensics to find and save the women.

The operation resulted in the apprehension of nine individuals—three in Port Harcourt, four in Bolgatanga, and two more in Teshie and Ashaiman.

Relatives have conveyed their appreciation and relief to the security forces for safely returning the victims. Investigations are still in progress.
