KOFI ADOMAH GIVES UPDATE ON RECOVERY AFTER SHOOTING INCIDENT

Renowned Ghanaian broadcaster and founder of Kofi TV, Kofi Adomah Nwanwani, has broken his silence months after surviving a life-threatening shooting incident during a cultural celebration in Dormaa Ahenkro.

In a heartfelt video posted to his Kofi TV YouTube channel on May 22, 2025, Kofi provided a detailed update on his recovery journey, expressing profound gratitude to individuals and organizations who supported him through his ordeal.

“At a point, I felt it was my end. I thought I wouldn’t survive,” he said, reflecting on the trauma.

The incident occurred on December 21, 2024, during the 25th-anniversary celebration of Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II at the Kwafie Festival. Kofi was hit in the face by a musket shot fired at close range by a bodyguard of a local chief during a traditional display. He was immediately rushed to Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital and later transferred to Berekum Holy Family Hospital. He was eventually flown to Dubai for advanced treatment, an arrangement fully sponsored by businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

Kofi specifically praised Ibrahim Mahama for his generosity and said the businessman even offered him the use of his private jet during his treatment journey.

While his eyesight has not fully returned to normal, Kofi revealed that he has regained partial vision and is able to function independently.

“Now I can say that, while my eyes are not like they used to be, I can now see you if you are standing before me. I can read messages… I am able to help myself, and I am grateful for where the Lord has brought me.”

He also mentioned that metallic particles from the musket blast remain lodged in his face and may stay there for the foreseeable future.

Kofi assured followers that he would soon address lingering controversies surrounding the incident and promised transparency going forward.

As he continues his recovery, the veteran journalist expressed deep appreciation to Ghanaians, colleagues, well-wishers, and donors who supported him financially and emotionally throughout his health crisis.
