KOKU ANYIDOHO THANKS PRESIDENT MAHAMA FOR RENAMING UHAS AFTER LATE PRESIDENT MILLS

Founder of MILLS Institute Praises Move as a Testament to Legacy and Unity

Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Founder and CEO of the MILLS (Mindset, Integrity, Loyalty, Leadership, Service) Institute, has publicly expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for renaming the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) as the John Evans Atta-Mills University of Health and Allied Sciences.

The institution, originally established by the late President John Evans Atta-Mills in December 2011 through Parliamentary Act 828, was envisioned as a premier research and practical health education centre dedicated to community service. President Atta-Mills personally laid the foundation stone at the main campus in Sokode Lokoe, Ho District in 2012, emphasizing his commitment to bringing a flagship university to the Volta Region.

Koku Anyidoho, a steadfast custodian of President Atta-Mills’ legacy for over 13 years, described the renaming as a “great joy” and a crucial step in preserving the memory of the former president, who also served as Vice President under President Mahama.

“It has been a struggle to keep the legacy of President Atta-Mills alive, and this decision by President Mahama brings great joy to my heart,” Koku stated.

He further remarked that the move strengthens unity within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and underscores the importance of honoring national heroes. Citing one of Atta-Mills’ cherished quotes, “A nation that does not honour its heroes is a nation that is not worth dying for,” Koku affirmed that this honor deeply reflects the late president’s vision.

The founding Act mandates that UHAS remain committed to its core mission in health and allied sciences, a vision that Anyidoho believes will now rest in peace with the university bearing President Mills’ name.
