KUAMI EUGENE SHARES HOW HE SURVIVED AT LYNX ENTERTAINMENT AMID KIDI AND OTHER BIG TALENTS

The "Rockstar" reveals his journey was driven by a desperate hunger to build a life from scratch, not by competition with his label mates like KiDi, in a candid reflection on his rise to fame.

Highlife star Kuami Eugene has opened up about his early days at Lynx Entertainment, stating that his primary motivation was survival, not competition with fellow artists like KiDi.

Speaking on BTM Afrika with NY DJ, the “Angela” hitmaker firmly dismissed the long-held idea of a rivalry within the label. “The truth is, I’ve never seen KiDi as a competition, not even today,” Kuami Eugene stated. “I’ve never seen anybody at Lynx as a competition.”

He explained that his “hunger” was born from a different starting point than his colleagues. While others may have had established foundations, he arrived with nothing. “I came with nothing. I had to build everything from scratch, so perhaps I arrived better prepared. I had so much to lose,” he reflected.

The artist painted a vivid picture of his relentless hustle, contrasting his journey with that of his label mates. He recounted “walking from Fadama to Achimota to use the company’s studio” while others drove, and sacrificing sleep to create his breakthrough.

Despite his singular focus, Kuami Eugene emphasized a deep respect for the Lynx Entertainment family, acknowledging that he learned valuable lessons from everyone, including KiDi, MzVee, and label boss Richie Mensah. He described the environment as collaborative, not combative.

His account reframes his success story, underscoring that his ambition was rooted in the sheer will to rise above his circumstances. “That hunger, doing the music, chasing a hit song, had nothing to do with competing,” he concluded. “I came to survive.”
