Prophet Prince Osei, the former husband of celebrated gospel musician Empress Gifty, has attributed the collapse of their marriage to a fundamental breakdown in communication.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, December 2, the clergyman opened up about the lessons learned from the failed union, stressing that prayer and faithfulness alone are insufficient to sustain a marriage.
“Prayer alone cannot sustain a marriage because there are a lot of factors involved. Also, what I have learned so far about marriage is that good communication is crucial,” he stated. “Faithfulness alone cannot sustain a marriage. Even if you want to have an affair with your wife, it all boils down to communication.”
Prophet Osei admitted that if he had cultivated better communication skills, the relationship might have survived. “If I had learned how to communicate better with my ex-wife, we might have remained together,” he confessed.
He also shared a glimpse into their early days, recalling how he met Empress Gifty when she was working as a seamstress in Tema Community 1. “When I saw her, I knew music would open a lot of opportunities for her because she had a good voice,” he recounted, noting that her brother introduced her to his church.
Since the divorce, Prophet Osei says he has focused on improving his interpersonal and communication abilities, turning a personal setback into a lesson for future relationships.
