John Dramani Mahama, ex-President of Ghana, has criticized Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s leadership regarding the legal deadlock on the anti-gay bill in Parliament.
He asserts that the president’s direction is outlined in the country’s constitution, so the current deadlock should be expected.
John Dramani Mahama assures that LGBTQI+ will not be tolerated in his administration and leadership due to it conflicting with his beliefs as a Christian and a member of the Assemblies of God Church.
The ex-president revealed this while speaking to the clergy in Accra.
“My mothers and Fathers in the Lord, the current impasse created by the Akufo-Addo, Bawumia administration on the promotion of proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian families value act which was passed by Parliament has set a dangerous precedent for our governance.
The president has a clear constitutional mandate for action, so this deadlock should not have occurred.
As I have publicly stated, I’m a proud member of the Assemblies of God Church and my faith does not permit same-sex marriages or relationships nor does it endorse human, animal relationships or does it allow people to change their gender as they wish. This is a fundamental belief that I hold and is grounded in my faith. I therefore assure you that the promotion of LGBTQ+ will have no place in our schools and communities under my administration,” he emphasized.
