The University of Ghana, owners of the Legon Botanical Gardens, has announced that it has terminated its contract with Mulch Ghana Limited for the management of the facility – the Legon Botanical Gardens.
The University of Ghana stated that its contract with Mulch Ghana has ended because the company did not meet its obligations. The Gardens will remain open but will undergo repairs and renovations before resuming operations.
“The University of Ghana announces the successful resolution of its longstanding contractual dispute with Mulch Ghana Limited, formerly Pine Spring Company Limited, regarding the management of the University of Ghana Botanical Gardens. Following a legal process that affirmed the University’s position, Mulch Ghana Limited agreed to cease its operations and vacate the Gardens by November 30, 2024,” a press release dated October 12, 2024, and signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the University of Ghana, Dr Elizier Taiba Ameyaw-Buronyah, said.
In an initial announcement, Mulch Ghana Limited hinted at the closure of the Gardens, but the University has affirmed that they will remain open.
