DR. ERNEST OFORI SARPONG H.C INAUGURATED AS CHAIRMAN OF UNIVERSITY OF GHANA COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES ADVISORY BOARD
Business magnate Ernest Ofori Sarpong has officially assumed the role of Chair of the University of Ghana’s College of Health Sciences (CHS) Advisory Board for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The inauguration, held today, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the University’s New Council Chamber, saw the swearing-in of board members and the formal constitution of the Board by the Vice-Chancellor.
Ernest Ofori Sarpong a Chartered Accountant by Profession with MSC in Finance and investment management will head a high-profile team of academic leaders, administrative heads, alumni, student representatives, and industry professionals tasked with steering CHS’s strategic direction, strengthening academic–industry partnerships, and advancing health sciences education, research, and service delivery in Ghana and beyond.
Schools in the College of Health Sciences comprises of;
1. School of Nursing and Midwifery
2. School of Pharmacy
3. School of Public Health
4. University of Ghana Dental School
5. University of Ghana Medical School
6. School of Biomedical & Allied Health Sciences (Responsible for training Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Medical Laboratory Scientists etc. )

2. Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research
In his inaugural address, he pledged to leverage his leadership experience and network to drive impactful collaborations and innovations in the health sector.
Key members of the Board include Prof. Alfred Edwin Yawson (Provost, CHS), Prof. Samuel Antwi-Baffour (Academic Board Representative), Mr. Wolarnyo Newton Torvinyo (Registrar, CHS), and representatives from staff, students, alumni, and external stakeholders.
