Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Member of Parliament representing the Ofoase Ayiribe Constituency, has thrown his weight behind Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s aspiration to secure the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position in the forthcoming 2024 elections.
Addressing an audience in his constituency, Nkrumah offered accolades to Bawumia for his substantial contributions to the NPP and unwavering dedication to upholding the party’s integrity even amidst challenges.
Nkrumah spotlighted Bawumia’s resolute efforts in safeguarding the party against adversities and his readiness to confront personal critiques in doing so. The parliamentarian also commended Bawumia’s humility and unwavering commitment to party affairs. Nkrumah invoked the principle of reciprocity, asserting that Bawumia’s valuable input warrants support and recognition.
Drawing upon Proverbs 17:13 to underscore the significance of responding positively to Bawumia’s constructive endeavors, Nkrumah additionally declared his and his constituency’s chairman’s intent to cast their votes in favor of Bawumia during the selection process.
Furthermore, he assured that Ofoase Ayiribe’s delegates would wholeheartedly rally behind Bawumia in the ultimate election.
Dr. Bawumia is among ten contenders competing for the NPP’s flagbearer position. The party plans to streamline the candidates to a final five through a preliminary vote in August. The ultimate election to determine the party’s leader, who will succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is scheduled for November 2023.
