LOSING MY DAD AND LEAKED TAPE WAS THE LOWEST POINT OF MY CAREER – Tiwa Savage

Award-winning Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has opened up about one of the most difficult periods in her life, revealing that 2021 was the lowest point of her career.
Speaking on a talk show hosted by British-Nigerian media personality Zeze Mills, the Afrobeats star recounted how the death of her father and the leak of an intimate tape shook her to the core.
“When my dad died and my sex tape was released… that was the lowest. The only way I could survive was to not think about it. It was really, really low,” she admitted.
Tiwa described the interview as a blessing, saying it felt good to still have people who wanted to hear her story after all she had been through.
“Being here on the couch with you is such a blessing. People want to hear what I have to say after so many years. I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?” she reflected.
Despite the scandal, Tiwa Savage has refused to be defined by that moment. In her hit song “Loaded” featuring Asake, she boldly addressed her critics with the Yoruba line: “Sex tape o’le baye mi je, igbadun kekere yen, Na who never fck, hands in the air,”* which translates to “Sex tape can’t spoil my life.”
Through her resilience and music, Tiwa continues to prove that she will not allow past controversies to overshadow her career.
