Reggae musician, Julius Amua-Sekyi, popularly called Shasha Marley, has said that the success of his song ‘Maata’ has brought not just fame and prominence but also serious legal issues.
Shasha Marley claimed in an interview with Ghana Television that the song was a success at its initial release and helped him advance as an artist.
I was at this very studio in 2007 when the song was first released. I’ve tried to explain this music from here a million times, but no one ever seems to believe me.
All the success and all the failure came from just one song. He remarked, “This earned me the greatest honors.”
“This is my song and I want to hear it,” he stated when asked whether he was concerned about the song’s reception and interpretation.
The reggae performer emphasized that the names of his friends in Papua New Guinea—Maata Tuitui, Maata Pue, and Maata Fish—were used instead of the word “flatulence” in the song’s title.
