Former President John Dramani Mahama has declared that he is the only leader capable of retrieving funds allegedly stolen by the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
In a statement shared on social media, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer criticized the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing them of mishandling the nation’s economy.
“This NPP government has stolen money from the people of Ghana. The NDC will hold them accountable. Change is coming,” Mahama stated.
The former president asserted that Dr. Bawumia, as a key figure in the current administration, cannot effectively address the financial irregularities or recover the misappropriated funds. According to Mahama, it will take a leader with the courage and determination to hold individuals responsible for the nation’s economic challenges accountable.
Mahama’s promise to recover the funds and bring transparency to governance has been central to his campaign as he seeks another term in office ahead of the 2024 elections. His remarks have sparked discussions among Ghanaians, with supporters praising his commitment to accountability while critics question the feasibility of his claims.
