MAHAMA’S ECONOMIC ADVISORY GROUP TO SERVE WITHOUT PAY – KWAKYE OFOSU
Presidency says PAGE members offering expertise in national interest

Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that members of President John Dramani Mahama’s newly constituted Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) will not receive any remuneration for their services.
Speaking on the Joy Super Morning Show on January 16, Mr Kwakye Ofosu clarified that the group is made up of distinguished professionals who are not permanent government employees and are contributing in an advisory capacity.
“As we speak, I am not certain about any remuneration. They are not permanent employees,” he said. “Many of these people are already engaged in other activities. Some people are lecturing at universities and are already on the public payroll, so I am not aware of any additional remuneration for them.”
He added that the group would independently determine the frequency and modalities of its meetings, but its core mandate is to monitor the economy and advise on policies aimed at benefiting the wider population.
“What is certain is that they will keep a close eye on the economy and ensure that the policies being implemented benefit the generality of our people,” he noted.
The PAGE includes high-profile figures such as economist and private sector leader Kwame Pianim; former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and former Finance Minister Dr Kwabena Duffuor; industrialist Sir Samuel Esson Jonah; private sector leader Ishmael Yamson; and former Deputy Minister for Finance and Trade Nana Oye Mansa Yeboaa.
Other members include former World Bank infrastructure specialist and agribusiness investor Ato Brown; former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Henry A. Kofi Wampah; economist and investor Togbe Afede XIV; Ghana Stock Exchange CEO Abena Amoah; and University of Ghana professors Priscilla Twumasi Baffour and Patience Aseweh Abor.
“They are not in here to make a quick buck,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu said. “They have been called upon to put their expertise at the disposal of the nation because we require a firm hand in the way our economy is managed.”
According to the Presidency, the advisory group will provide strategic guidance on macroeconomic management, fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, and policy coordination. It will also advise on industrial development, competitiveness, private sector expansion, investment mobilisation, and sustainable job creation.
