MALI ANNOUNCES THAT STUDENTS WILL NO LONGER STUDY FRENCH HISTORY IN SCHOOLS

Mali has announced that students will no longer study French history in schools, a move the government says is meant to help young people focus more on their own country and Africa.

Officials explain that the aim is to build a stronger national identity and reduce the influence of old colonial narratives in the classroom.

By shifting lessons toward local history, African leaders, and the continent’s cultural heritage, Mali hopes to give learners a clearer understanding of where they come from and the stories that shaped their communities.
