2021 GJA Journalist of the Year Portia Solomon Gabor has been rewarded with a two-bedroom house by her employers, Media General Group.
At a short ceremony on TV3‘s flagship news programme News 360, Board Chairman Kojo Yankah presented her with a bouquet of flowers and announced the surprise package.
Aside the two-bedroom apartment, Portia will also enjoy an all-expense-paid 10-day trip to South Africa, with her family.
Portia Gabor was on Saturday, November 12 crowned the GJA Journalist of the Year at the 26th GJA Awards Night held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.
She won the best news reporter (TV) award for her report on “A beggar’s Paradise” and the best health reporter award for a piece titled “Wealth for Health.”
TV3’s Juliet Bawuah, Joseph Armstorng Gold-Alorgbey and Godwin Asediba were also award winners on the night.
Francisca Enchill, another Joy Prime Freelancer, won the award for best female journalist of the year, and Manuel Koranteng, a two-year veteran of Multimedia, won the Komla Dumor Most Promising Journalist award.
The awards night brought together dignitaries including the Special Media Advisor at the Presidency, Mrs. Florence Oboshie Sai-Coffie, the Deputy Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, Supreme Court Judge, Justice Yonni Kulendi and U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Virginia E. Palmer.
The event was held on the theme: “Walking the Path Towards Ghana’s Economic Recovery: The Role of the Media”.
