MARRIAGE FOUND ME AT 19, NOT BY CHOICE – PATIENCE OZOKWO

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo has opened up about her early marriage, revealing that she was married off at just 19 years old through an arrangement made by her parents.

Speaking in a story shared via the verified Igbo History and Fact page on X (formerly Twitter), the award-winning actress said the decision was not hers to make.

“Marriage found me at just 19. It wasn’t my choice; my parents arranged it. At first, I was scared. I didn’t know how to love a man I didn’t choose,” she revealed.

Despite her initial fears, Ozokwo said love eventually blossomed between her and her husband, and the two shared 23 years of marriage before his passing.

“But as time passed, love grew. We spent 23 years together. He was sick for 15 of those years, and in 2000, he passed away,” she said.

The veteran actress, popularly known as Mama G, further disclosed that she and her late husband had three biological children, and she later adopted five more out of compassion and love, though one of the adopted children sadly passed away.

“We had three beautiful children, and I adopted five more. One of them died, so I now have seven,” she added.

Ozokwo, who has enjoyed a distinguished acting career spanning over three decades, remains one of Nollywood’s most respected figures. Beyond her on-screen roles, she is admired for her resilience, faith, and commitment to family qualities she continues to embody both in public life and private reflections.
