Leader of Heavens Gate Ministries, Prophet Kumchacha, encourages men to marry multiple women, stating that it is not a sinful act. He contended that the Bible does not explicitly prohibit polygamy, contradicting widely held beliefs.
During his appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz on September 14, 2024, he clarified that the Apostle Paul only recommended men to have one wife, emphasizing that it was merely a suggestion rather than a strict rule, allowing men to make their own decision.
He believes that having multiple wives can contribute to a longer lifespan for men, as handling the complexities of marriage with just one wife can be difficult.
“Marriage has its issues, so I always tell men to marry at least two or three women if they want to live long,” he said.
He added, “If God blesses me with wealth like Kwame Despite or Ofori Sarpong, I would do the same. As a prophet, I dare any pastor to show me a Bible verse from Genesis to Revelation that says having more than one wife will send you to hell—it doesn’t exist.”
He also pointed out that the guidance given by Paul in 1 Timothy regarding marriage is not a rigid requirement, and individuals have the option to decide whether or not to adhere to it.
He pointed out that Paul also stated in 1 Corinthians 14:34 that women are not to preach in church, yet many present-day churches do not adhere to this directive.
