Famous Highlife musician, Bisa Kdei, has revealed that receiving payment to perform at a political rally does not necessarily indicate support for the party hiring them.
“We don’t understand politics so when you see someone performing on a political platform then you get angry but at the same time musicians must also eat,” he told Amansan Krakye.
The ‘Brother Brother’ hitmaker believes that many musicians perform on political stages in order to earn money for their expenses and bills.
He continued “The fans must also understand the artistes because we have to find means to put food on the table and we also have certain bills to settle as well.
“Let’s say a musician hasn’t gotten a show to perform for the whole year and he’s been invited to take a big amount to perform at a political show he’d have to do it,” he added.
“Accepting that money to perform at the political event doesn’t mean the musician supports that party but it’s their work in order to feed themselves and their family,” he argued.
