MWINYI RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ZANZIBAR
The incumbent extends the ruling CCM party's uninterrupted hold on power in the semi-autonomous Tanzanian archipelago, promising unity and economic reforms in his victory address.

Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has been re-elected as President of Zanzibar, according to an official announcement from the Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC), extending the ruling party’s uninterrupted governance since the islands’ independence.
Mwinyi, who stood on the ticket of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, secured another term following presidential and parliamentary elections held across the semi-autonomous archipelago on Wednesday. The CCM has maintained political control over Zanzibar since the islands gained independence.
In his victory address, the re-elected president thanked Zanzibaris for their continued trust and pledged to prioritize national unity, economic reform, and youth employment during his new term. The election outcome reinforces the CCM’s enduring dominance in Zanzibar’s political landscape, which forms part of the United Republic of Tanzania alongside mainland Tanzania.
