Contrary to the popular belief that persons in the entertainment industry frequently engage in such behaviors, Ghanaian musician Epixode has stated why he doesn’t smoke or consume alcohol.
In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy Prime, he said that he is an exception to the generalization that many in show business circles are drug addicts and lead hedonistic lifestyles.
He claims that he was raised in a home where drinking, smoking, and other behaviors that would have damaged the family’s reputation were strictly forbidden.
When asked how he feels around his fellow musicians who lead similar lifestyles, he responded that he sometimes acts as if he belongs.
Epixode claimed that he does this so that they won’t feel guilty about what they did.
He said that contrary to what some people may believe, his theatrical presence is not fueled by narcotics.
“Sometimes I fake it. Sometimes I dey backstage norrr somebody go come. ‘Chale you get lighter for there?’ Then I will say ‘Oh, the last one finish oo. Not to actually say that the people who do it are bad. From even a fan’s perspective, they idolise you. They look at you in certain ways. They look at you as somebody who they can see themselves in,” he said.
