President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo confidently stated that his administration has built a greater number of roads compared to what was achieved by the Mills/Mahama administration.
The declaration was announced at the ground-breaking event for the expansion of the Anwiankwanta-Ahenema Kokoben Road on July 15, 2024 monitored by classfmonline.
Speaking to a crowd of community leaders, citizens, and interested parties, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the significant enhancements made to the country’s road system since 2017, pointing out an impressive 12,830 kilometers of roads finished during his time in office.
This number is significantly different from the 4,636 kilometers of roads constructed from 2009 to 2016 under the Mills/Mahama administration.
The President listed the different road projects his administration has carried out, such as asphalt overlays, new constructions, graveling/re-graveling, reconstructions, partial reconstructions, rehabilitations, resealing, surfacing, and building 35 important bridges.
Moreover, six interchanges have been included, with another ten currently being developed.
“This development is unparalleled in the history of Ghana, reflecting a level of commitment and efficiency in addressing our infrastructure needs that have not been seen before,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
He stressed the beneficial effects that these advancements bring to the connectivity, economy, and general well-being of Ghanaians.
President Akufo-Addo recognized the continued need for more roads despite the significant progress made, citing the large road shortage left for his administration to address. He encouraged upcoming administrations to maintain the progress and expand on the groundwork set by his government.
“The progress made sets a high standard and serves as a blueprint for what can be achieved with dedication and strategic planning. Successive governments must ensure sustained investment in infrastructure to address the road deficit and meet the evolving needs of our rapidly growing population,” the President remarked.
