MY LIFE IS BEING THREATENED – Man Who Petitioned CHRAJ Over Sammy Gyamfi’s Dollar Gift

Eric Dumenu Akatsi, a private individual who approached the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) regarding CEO Sammy Gyamfi of Goldbod giving dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa, has alleged that his life is in danger.

Eric Dumenu Akatsi stated that after submitting his petition on 11 May 2025, he has received numerous calls from unfamiliar numbers, including direct threats and verbal insults.

He stated, “Some of these people are invoking insults and threats as though I committed a crime”.

Mr. Akatsi, however, asserted that his actions were not driven by political motives but arose from a civic responsibility to seek accountability.

“Let me put on record that I have nothing against Sammy. I am only exercising my right as a citizen by calling on institutions of state to investigate an issue of public interest,” he added.

The private citizen in his petition cited Article 218(e) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which empowers CHRAJ to investigate alleged or suspected corruption and abuse of power by public officials.

He stated, “I write in my personal capacity and as a citizen of the Republic of Ghana with a civic duty”.

He described Sammy Gyamfi’s conduct in the video as “ a perfectly clear instance of alleged engagement in suspected corruption.”

Eric Dumenu Akatsi claimed that Sammy Gyamfi possesses two private bank accounts at Consolidated Bank Ghana, one in dollars and one in cedis, both holding substantial amounts exceeding One Hundred Million Ghana Cedi.

He indicates that the substantial deposits are a fairly new occurrence.

“It is important to understand, that the accuracy of Mathematics leads to one irresistible conclusion — these are signs of suspected corruption.”

“I am verily aware and believe the same to be true that your office would give this petition the needed consideration and attention it deserves”, he added.
