Thomas Partey, the deputy captain of the Black Stars, has discussed what helped him perform better during Ghana’s victory over South Korea earlier today.
He claimed that having his parents in the stadium increased his motivation to do his best.
The Arsenal midfielder stated there is more motivation now that his parents are in Qatar for the World Cup in a post-game interview with Ghanaweb.
Partey also claims that he can relate to some of the criticism he receives because there are high expectations for him, but he adds that he must strike a balance between accepting it and finding its positive aspects to avoid becoming discouraged.
In the second round of the World Cup in Qatar, Ghana defeated South Korea 3-2. Ghana needed to avoid a loss to have any hope of continuing in the tournament after their setback to Portugal in the first game.
South Korea had one goal in mind as it began the second half: to assault. The Koreans started putting crosses into the box to trouble Otto Addo’s team’s defense.
Mohammed Kudus, though, scored his second goal of the day to give the Black Stars of Ghana a 3-2 victory. He ended up winning the game.
