Wode Maya described how physicians told him and his partner they couldn’t conceive in September 2021 in an online posting. Three months later, he asked her to marry him in spite of the news.
“September 2021 — we were told we couldn’t have children. December 2021 — I asked her to be my wife,” he wrote.
The anniversary of his wife’s mother’s death, 13 years prior, fell in September 2022, a date that carried emotional significance for the couple.
“September 2022 — we got married, on the same day she lost her mother 13 years earlier,” he shared.
Over the years, they experienced six miscarriages, which Wode Maya described as painful. But in 2025, they got good news once more.
“After 6 heartbreaking miscarriages over the years, in 2025 we became pregnant again,” he stated.
As he thought back on the challenging voyage, he characterized it as a tale of tenacity and faith.
“Through every challenge, every loss, and every tear, our journey is a testimony of resilience, faith, and hope. God is the greatest,” he added.
