NACOC ARRESTS NOTORIOUS DRUG ‘QUEEN’ IN BUDUMBURAM RAID
32-year-old woman known as “Mother” captured in major anti-narcotics operation

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a woman identified as a major player in the local drug trade during a coordinated raid in Budumburam and surrounding communities in the Gomoa East Municipality of the Central Region.
The operation, conducted on Friday, January 16, formed part of NACOC’s ongoing national effort to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse. Several suspected drug peddlers were taken into custody, and various illicit substances were seized during the exercise.
Among those arrested was Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother”, a 32-year-old woman described by local opinion leaders as “a key figure in the local drug trade who had previously evaded arrest”.
In a statement, NACOC confirmed that the suspect had long been under surveillance. “She has been on the radar of NACOC’s intelligence and surveillance team due to her activities in dealing with all manner of illicit drug trafficking acts,” the Commission said.
Residents of Budumburam and nearby areas had reportedly filed multiple complaints with NACOC regarding criminal activity believed to be linked to the suspects arrested.
“The Commission has received several complaints of nefarious activities being perpetuated by most of the suspects who are currently in custody,” the statement added.
Items recovered during the raid included quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol and other controlled substances, along with paraphernalia believed to be associated with drug peddling.

NACOC reiterated its resolve to intensify operations across the country, adding, “NACOC wishes to assure the general public of its commitment to ensure that Ghana becomes a drug-free nation.”
