The General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah is hurt that the Chief Executive Officer of defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1) is not behind bars after defrauding about 1 billion its customers.
Speaking on TV3’s morning show – New Day, Nana Yaa Jantuah, who described as NAM 1 as a fraudster and a crook added NAM1 must be dealt with and made to pay every penny he owes to customers.
“I find it very difficult to label people but I can say today that NAM1 is a fraudster, he is still walking about because the people who have their funds locked up with him appears to be vulnerable. The man knows what he is doing, he is a crook because look at the scheme that he has come up with, that come and pay GHS 650 and go through the process to retrieve your money, if I have Ghs20 million with that man, I would pay the GHS 650.” She said
Nana Yaa Jantuah advised that the Menzgold customers take the issue to court and instead of relying on the Attorney General (AG).
“I do not understand why they are depending on the AG going through the process, the money is yours, its not for government, so you think that government will be so committed to retrieve money that you willingly put in that? the most effective is for all of them to get a good lawyer to sue NAM1.”
Nana Yaa Jantuah also chastised the Security and Exchange Commission for lack of sensitization, she believed it would have deterred some people from investing in menzgold.
“If you are doing public education of such a nature which is of social economic ramifications which affects the pockets of people we need to go beyond the ordinary” she concluded.
