NATIONAL SECURITY SEIZES US DOLLARS, GOLD BARS, AND COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY IN MAJOR WAREHOUSE RAID

National Security operatives have seized significant US dollars, Ghana cedis, and counterfeit currency hidden in twelve 20-ft shipping containers. Following a credible intelligence tip-off, The raid occurred at a warehouse in Sapeiman, located within the Ga South Municipality.

Investigations revealed that the illicit funds—primarily stacks of US dollars—were cleverly concealed inside wooden boxes filled with cement. Further searches uncovered additional currencies stashed in plywood-sealed boxes, some of which were reinforced with charcoal to evade detection.

Security officials also discovered suspected gold bars, fake Ghana cedi notes in GH¢50 and GH¢100 denominations, as well as counterfeit Ghana Army uniforms and boots.

Despite the successful seizure, authorities have yet to locate two missing containers currently being tracked. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched for four suspects, including the alleged mastermind, identified only as Alhaji.

The National Security Secretariat has assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits and dismantle the criminal network behind the operation.
