NATIONAL SECURITY STORMS CHAIRMAN WONTUMI’S RESIDENCE
The residence of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), was stormed by National Security operatives and Police officers.
As reported, the operation is still in progress with security forces encircling the area.
The rationale behind the National security presence is uncertain. Certain NPP backers are assembling to demonstrate their unity.
Chairman Wontumi previously questioned President John Dramani Mahama regarding the reason for freezing his accounts.
Wontumi claims he was never part of Akufo-Addo’s administration, so why is the Mahama government targeting him?
Chairman Wontumi exclaimed that the manner in which the Mahama administration was treating him was inappropriate.
He alleged that the John Mahama administration had a personal dislike for him and unjustly accused him.
Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on May 15, 2025, he alleged, “They know Wontumi is winning, so they want to attack me. I have never been on any board, never worked as a government official, and never served under Akufo-Addo’s administration, so why attack me?
There is no minister who can say they have given me a job before. So why would you close Wontumi’s account? For what reason?
“Mahama, the way your government is handling me is not right. This isn’t how things should be. I believe this is personal hatred and wrongful accusation. We went for an election, and you have won, so focus on your government,” he added.
