NATIONS FC BACKER DR. KWAME KYEI EXPRESSES REGRET AFTER VIOLENT INCIDENT DERAILS TITLE BID
Dr. Kwame Kyei, the financial backer of Ghana Premier League side Nations FC, has openly expressed deep regret over his involvement in Ghana football following a violent altercation during the club’s recent match against Basake Holy Stars.
The unsettling incident, which took place at the Ampain AAK II Arena, saw Dr. Kyei and club president Divine Kyei Boadu physically assaulted. The ensuing chaos led Nations FC to abandon the match, citing what they described as unfair officiating after two controversial penalties were awarded to the home side.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Dr. Kyei revealed his disappointment and loss of passion for the sport amid these ongoing challenges. “I have regretted getting involved in Ghana football,” he lamented. “We are hoping for a change. If we all sit and only complain about it, then we are not acting right as elderly people.”
The outcome was a severe blow to Nations FC’s aspirations, as a victory in that fixture would have secured the club’s first-ever Premier League title.
