The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Amenfi Central parliamentary candidate Joana Gyan Cudjoe have filed a motion at the High Court in Accra seeking an interlocutory injunction against the Electoral Commission (EC).
On Thursday (17 October 2024), a motion was filed requesting the court to halt the EC from printing ballot papers and issuing a notice of poll for Amenfi Central in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary election.
The plaintiffs claim that the injunction is needed to stop the election proceedings in the constituency until the court addresses a significant legal issue regarding the elections.
As per the court document, the plaintiffs are requesting that the court halt any additional actions by the EC until all legal matters are resolved.
The hearing for the case is scheduled for 24 October 2024.
The outcome of this case may greatly affect the electoral system in Amenfi Central as the 2024 elections approach.
