Renowned Nigerian actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), has called on Ghanaians to vote for John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
In an interview with JoyNews, shared on X on November 25, 2024, the celebrated actor highlighted Mahama’s achievements during his previous tenure as president and encouraged Ghanaians to give him another opportunity to lead the nation.
“I think they shouldn’t make the mistake that other Africans want them to make. They should vote for the best man, someone who has their back. Not everyone vying for the position has Ghanaians’ best interests at heart. And I know you understand this,” RMD stated.
Expressing his personal preference, RMD described Mahama as his favorite candidate for the December 7 elections, citing the former president’s impactful contributions to Ghana’s development.
“I have my favorite, and I’m sure he’s the one Ghanaians will vote for. My favorite is Mahama because I like him. I haven’t met him before, but every time I pass through the airport, I’m reminded that he was the one who built it. And I have a lot of Ghanaian friends who’ve told me about all the good work he did as president,” he added.
RMD’s endorsement adds a notable voice to the discourse surrounding Ghana’s upcoming elections, as Mahama vies to return to power.
